The group were very proud to be part of the Remembrance Day service held in school and at Bradshaw Cenotaph in 2014. The student council represented the school brilliantly and did an amazing job. We worked closely with Mrs Kenny from school who went to a great deal of effort to make sure the morning was a success,. Mr Andrew Honour from the legion came into school and to put some of the children and staff through their paces with drills and marches through the playground. The student council accompanied by Mrs Turner and several members of the Bradshaw and Illingworth branch of the Royal British Legion then headed down to the Cenotaph where they were greeted by the Rev Kathia Shoesmith who gave a reading. Several passersby stopped including motorists to join in the service.
A minutes silence was then observed .The group hope to work with the Legion again in the near future. The Illingworth & Bradshaw branch look after many veterans locally assisting them in many different ways. They regularly attend the funerals of the ex-service personal as well as looking after over 30 graves, some of which are in Bradshaw Church yard.
